Transfurmations!
Transfurmation, glow up or before and after- call it what you will, this is why we do what we do! Their resilience and willingness to forgive and trust inspires us every day.
ASA
ASA was a senior dog found wandering the streets with an advanced case of mange. He was obviously dumped as an old dog as he didn’t know how to survive on the street and struggled to find food.
Once we got him, he had medicine to rid him of parasites, a medicated bath then shaved so that his skin could better absorb his essential oil/ coconut oil massages. As a senior dog, it took some months for him to recover but we had no idea how handsome he would be! Due to his age, he had no one interested in adopting him but it was our gain as he had a wonderful 1 1/2 years as a beloved family member before peacefully passing away last year.
FINLEY
FINLEY is our miracle boy, found in the nick of time to save his life. He was found with a rope embedded in his neck, emaciated and very scared of humans. It took a couple hours and a lucky chain of circumstances to capture him. We had been treating another beach dog so had a tiny bit of sedative left and our dog catcher darted him in his hiding place- after having chased him around the rice fields!
He was rushed to the clinic to finally have the rope cut out of his neck. He spent a month at the clinic and a couple of months in boarding. His body has healed beautifully and Finley is now at our sanctuary to heal his soul and learn to trust humans.
LUNA
A lady who feeds strays at the bus station called in this skinny, scared girl. LUNA had been abandoned with an advanced case of mange. She was was one of our more difficult catches, hiding under a car. Fortunately, she was very hungry and while someone distracted her with food, our skilled dog catcher slid the net over her while she was still under the car and dragged her out.
Off she went to the vet for treatment and vaccines, but she came home with me to recover. She was so quiet and withdrawn. It seems like she never had doggie friends because, though most of our rescue dogs are nervous with people, they usually are relieved to be around our pack of dogs once they arrive at our sanctuary. She found a safe corner to hide in and bit by bit, with the help of some of our friendliest dogs, she came out of her shell. She’s found her voice- literally-and she’s not afraid to use it as she runs around the yard with her buddies.
